Slitting

The next step in the process is passing the pickled strips through our HR/CR slitter machine that accommodates a maximum width of upto 1600mm and a minimum width of 40mm. The rotating blades in this machine ‘slit’ the wide coil to the exact width required (as low as 6mm) for the succeeding job. During the slitting process, the side trimmings are eliminated to get rid of width variations and correspond to the required width. Slitting is a natural next step after the coil is rolled, annealed and temper rolled. Coils can be split into narrower width or lengthwise sheets.
